ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION

Who is the programme for?
The programme is suitable for Year 11 learners who have become disengaged from mainstream education.  (It is not uncommon for Year 10 learners to be submitted at the end of the year in preparation for their move into Year 11.)

What is involved?
Your school must make the referral.  You will undertake a three-day induction programme.  The induction will ensure that the learners are aware of all expectations including those of the employer.

You will have the opportunity to discuss different vocational areas and more specifically, what is involved in particular job roles.

You will be required to select the vocational area(s) that you are interested in.

An individual action plan will be developed identifying any issues or actions that are agreed, and a progress review of the action plan will be completed each term.

A suitable employer will be approached and the possibility of a placement sought.

You will be provided with all protective clothing required to work safely.  You will then be required to work alongside the nominated supervisor for a given period of time.

Personal Development sessions, built around the Basic/Key Skills Awards will be integrated into the programme.
